Compare the basket you intend to receive

A running-kit comparison should start with the same included items, not the lowest headline on two product cards. Write the exact shoe variant, watch version and any required accessories in each basket. If one offer includes a cable or flask and another leaves it separate, make that difference visible before comparing totals. A cheaper-looking subtotal may simply describe less equipment. The useful question is what the seller will supply for the complete amount you are asked to pay.

ACCC price-display guidance ?

Use the total-price principle

ACCC guidance explains that the displayed total price should include taxes and unavoidable or preselected fees. Use that guidance to check the scope of a quote, rather than treating every extra line as automatically optional or automatically unlawful. The details of an individual transaction still matter. Keep the delivered postcode, currency and tax basis with the quote so an AUD total is not accidentally compared with a foreign-currency subtotal or a collection-only offer.

Fictional kit subtotal: AUD 240; Fictional delivery: AUD 15; Applicable fictional discount: AUD 20
All amounts are invented examples. They are not current product prices, discounts or delivery offers.

Make the arithmetic reproducible

In a fictional example, a kit subtotal of AUD 240 plus AUD 15 delivery, less an applicable AUD 20 discount, gives AUD 235. These are invented amounts used to explain the calculation, not current prices or an available promotion. If another compulsory quoted charge applies, add it explicitly. Keep the discount's conditions with the record rather than assuming it applies to every item or remains available when the basket changes. A calculator can only add the amounts and assumptions that you actually provide.

240 + 15 − 20: AUD 235 total; Other compulsory charges: Add if quoted; Live offer: Not supplied here
The result assumes no other compulsory charges in the example. Confirm the actual inclusions and tax basis with the seller.

Keep optional ongoing costs separate

A watch purchase and an optional recurring service are different commitments. If you want to compare a setup that includes a subscription, show its period and inclusion basis separately from the one-off delivered equipment total. Do not quietly mix a monthly amount with an annual amount or imply that an optional service is required without documentation. This site has no authorised live commerce feed, so it does not supply current subscription rates, stock levels or promotional prices for the equipment discussed.

Save the quote before it changes

Keep the date, seller, exact variants, included items and final checkout total together. A screenshot of a sale banner alone does not show the conditions needed to reproduce the quote. The licensed equipment photographs in this guide provide category context; they are not offers, current stock confirmations or photographs of a bundle being sold here. If the basket changes during checkout, update the comparison instead of carrying forward a subtotal that no longer describes the same items.

Choose with the missing details visible

Use the delivered-quote tool to check the arithmetic, then review the actual seller terms and unresolved inclusions. If a charge or discount is unclear, ask for clarification before treating the total as settled. A lower amount does not establish suitability, service quality or warranty support, so keep those questions alongside the cost comparison. The practical result is a transparent record of what a quoted amount includes, with fictional examples and actual offers kept unmistakably separate.
